Mission Statement
Tenets of Faith
We, the people of the Rometown Community Church, by the Grace of God, assemble to
glorify the Father. We also promote the development of Christ’s character in the
believer, encouragement of the body and evangelism of the lost through ministry to the
community.
ROMETOWN COMMUNITY CHURCH
These tenets listed are taken from the Holy, inspired Word of God and not an end to themselves but a basic portion to establish the unity of the fellowship at Rometown Community Church.
A. One God: That there is one and only one God of the universe, of creation, of
Salvation, and of eternity. He is three. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each equal and all three are one, that is God! (Genesis 1;1, Deuteronomy 6:4,Matthew 28:19, Mark 12:29, Isaiah 43:10-12
B. Word of GOD: The Bible is the inspired Word of God written down by those chosen by God to be His messengers. All other documents are merely man’s commentary.(John :1-14, II Timothy 3:15-17, Hebrews 4:12, I Peter 1:23-25)
C. Salvation: The Salvation of man provided by God through the substitutionary death and the resurrection of the Son, undeserved by man and the free gift of God to man.
a. Man, who was perfectly created, fell from grace due to his sin, which brought death to all mankind.
b. God who requires perfect justice, met that requirement by sending His one and only Son, Jesus, to die in place of sinful man so that man could once again be in fellowship with a Holy God and have the Hope of Eternal Life with the Lord in Heaven.
c. In Faith the believer receives the gift of salvation through the Son and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, which brings out the character of Christ in the believer. (Luke 24:7, Romans 8:9-17, 10:9-15, Ephesians 2:8-10, Titus 2:1-3, 11, I John 5:11-12)
D. Baptism: The ordinance of Water Baptism should be observed by all who have
repented and believe in the free gift of salvation through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Baptism is the proclamation of the believer to the world that they are a new creature through the cleansing provided by the shed blood of Jesus.
(Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 10:47-48, Romans 6:4)
E. Communion: The ordinance of Communion should be observed by believers regularly as commanded by the Savior, Jesus Christ. (Luke 22:7-20, John 6:25-59,
I Corinthians 11:23-29)
F. Fruit of the Spirit: The manifestation of the Spirit will come forth in the fruit of the Spirit. The life of the believer will change and the character of Christ will come forth as the believer grows to spiritual maturity. (Romans 8:1-17,Galatians 5:16-26, Ephesians 5:12-28, I Peter 1:13-25, I John 1:5-2:6)
G. Church: The church is the Body of Christ or The Bride of Christ. It consists of the group of believers that God has called to gather to accomplish the will of the Father. (Ephesians 1:22-23, 2:11-22, 4:1-16, all of Paul’s Letters)
H. Evangelism: The ministry of evangelism is the carrying of the good news or the Gospel of Christ to those in our community and to send out and support missionaries to carry the Gospel to the world as Jesus commanded. (Matthew 28:16-29,
Ephesians 4:11-13)
I. Resurrection of the Dead: Eternal life with the Lord is the hope of all who believe. Jesus promised that He would return for all those who have accepted the gift of Salvation. That after physical death all believers will be raised to life at the resurrection, as Jesus was on the third day, and so will ever be with the Lord.
(I Thessalonians 4:13-18, Romans 8:18-25, Titus 2:11-15, I Corinthians 15:12-58)
J. End of the Age: The book of Revelation along with all other prophecy in the Bible says God will bring this age to an end with Christ’s return as the Lion of Judah. He will sit on the throne of David in Jerusalem and rule the world for 1000 years and will judge all who have refused the free gift of salvation according
to their works and the Law. He will cast all those guilty of rejecting Christ in the lake of fire along with Satan and his angels. (Daniel 12, Matthew 24-25, Mark 13, Revelation)
